The Nisshinbo Group's Business Conduct Guidelines states that "Safety is the Basis for Everything" and clearly states that the Group holds safety as the top priority for all of its activities to bring high-quality products to customers.
Promotion System
Nisshinbo Holdings Inc. reorganized its organizational structure in April 2025 to establish a Managing Officer system for each functional division with the aim of building and overseeing a structure that would lead to urgent change. Under a system in which the Managing Officer in charge of the Risk Management Department serves as the group coordinator, a Group Health and Safety Liaison Conference has been established to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases throughout the entire Group. The Health & Safety Group of Nisshinbo Holdings Inc. serves as the secretariat for the committee.
The Nisshinbo Group's group coordinator reports on the status of achievement of the Group's targets and the occurrence of occupational accidents at the Board of Directors or the Board of Management*, and supervises the targets and their progress. The president of the Nisshinbo Group, who is the chief executive officer of the Group, conducts management reviews, and instructs necessary implementation measures for management, such as targets and priority policies for the following fiscal year. Special items are reported to the Board of Directors as appropriate.
* The Board of Management: The committee is composed of Managing Director and Managing Officer. Outside Director and Audit & Supervisory Board Member also participate as observers.

Specific Initiatives of the Nisshinbo Group
6th Sustainability Promotion Plan (to be achieved by FY2027)

In the 6th Sustainability Promotion Plan, which targets FY2027, the Nisshinbo Group focuses on promoting activities for occupational safety and health as a priority initiative and works to prevent occupational injuries. The Nisshinbo Group working toward the above goals through a PDCA cycle.
In FY2025, the Nisshinbo Group focused on improving occupational safety and health management and specifically addressed the following areas.
To prevent serious accidents, Nisshinbo strengthened the management of safety devices and personal protective equipment for facilities and operations involving high levels of risk or hazard. The Group also focused on maintaining and improving the skills of workers engaged in tasks that could lead to serious accidents, such as forklift operations, crane operations, work at heights, and electrical work.
To ensure thorough employee training and awareness, Nisshinbo worked to raise safety and health awareness through regular initiatives such as safety and health training and hazard prediction drills. In addition, through workplace inspections by supervisors and other measures, Nisshinbo ensured strict compliance with basic safety rules and work procedures.
As a result of implementing these initiatives, the Nisshinbo Group achieved zero incidents of major disasters.
For FY2026, the Nisshinbo Group is continuing its focus on improving occupational safety and health management standards and added enhancing the capabilities of occupational safety and health personnel to the initiatives from FY2025,with the aim of improving management standards across all workplaces.

Occurrence of Occupational Injuries
In FY2025, the Nisshinbo Group had no serious occupational accidents (classified as grade 1 to7 death or disabilities).
The frequency rate of lost time injuries* remained at 0.15 for the entire domestic group, maintaining a favorable level compared to the domestic manufacturing industry.
When an occupational accident occurs, the person in charge of health and safety and the manager or supervisor of the department where the accident occurred conduct interviews the workers involved, including those affected, to determine the true cause and to implement measures to prevent a recurrence. In addition, the details of the occupational accident and countermeasures are compiled into a report and disseminated to all Nisshinbo Group companies to help prevent similar accidents.

Safety and Health Activities and 5S Activities
In addition to education at the time of hiring and at the time of changes in work content, each business site of the Nisshinbo Group strives to raise the safety awareness of each and every employee through small group activities and training to improve the abilities of employees engaged in safety and health work, hazard prediction training, 5S (Sorting, Setting-in-Order, Shining, Standardizing, Sustaining the Discipline) activities, and risk simulation education. Nisshinbo also formulates annual plans and systematically conducts risk assessments of equipment, operations, and chemical substances to determine priorities and implement preventive safety measures.
Health and Safety Education and Training
To achieve the key objective for FY2025 of "Improving Occupational Safety and Health Management," Nisshinbo organized a training session focused on management procedures for the various notifications required under the Industrial Safety and Health Act and other relevant laws, particularly regarding the installation, modification, and disposal of equipment. Approximately 60 occupational safety and health officers from each business location participated in the session.
During this study session, the Nisshinbo Group reaffirmed the importance of legal compliance and learned how to establish a system that leaves no gaps by ensuring that managers, safety and health officers, and other relevant personnel, rather than leaving legal matters solely to a few designated individuals, fully understand the relevant laws and regulations and clearly define each person’s responsibilities. The Group also exchanged views with participants on its activities and challenges.
Safety and Health Audits
The Nisshinbo Group periodically audits the status of health and safety management at each business site by organizing an audit team consisting of the Health & Safety Group within the Risk Management Department of Nisshinbo Holdings Inc., the labor union, health and safety managers representing operating companies, and health and safety managers from other business sites. In FY2025, Nisshinbo conducted health and safety audits at 42 business sites in Japan, mainly manufacturing sites, and 2 overseas business sites.
At the end of the fiscal year, the monitoring team prepare a comprehensive audit report based on these audit results. The team also share accident risk analysis results and case studies of excellent activities throughout the Group and incorporate them into occupational safety and health activities in the following fiscal year.
Initiatives for Chemical Substance Management
Following the 2023 amendments to the Ministerial Ordinances under the Industrial Safety and Health Act, "self-regulated management" of chemical substances is now required. In response, Nisshinbo verified compliance with the "Guidelines for the Management of Chemical Substances at Workplaces"-which were formulated in collaboration with experts from domestic group companies-through safety and health audits. Additionally, the Company held working group meetings with the relevant departments of domestic group companies to address challenges and issues at each workplace, thereby striving to improve the level of chemical substance management.
Activities at Business Sites in Overseas
Overseas group companies strive to raise the awareness of safety by each employee through the implementation of danger-detection training and danger-perception training provided at each site in cooperation with the core companies under its jurisdiction in accordance with the Guidelines for Behavior with the "Safety is the Basis for Everything." In addition, the Nisshinbo Group works to prevent the recurrence of occupational injuries at sites within the Group companies and to prevent similar injuries. Regarding the chemical substances handled, the Group continue to disseminate the danger and thoroughly implement the use of personal protective equipment to prevent health problems.
Specific Activities of the Group Companies
Efforts to Prevent Disasters
In March 2025, Japan Radio Co., Ltd., and the Nagano Plant of Ueda Japan Radio Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Nagano Comprehensive Industrial Health Support Center, hosted a seminar on preventing falls titled "Building a Solid Foundation for the Future: The First Step Toward Safety and Health," featuring invited speakers.
The 20 employees who participated learned that as physical and mental reserves decline with age, the physical functions of muscle strength, balance, and walking speed deteriorate, which increase the risk of falls. Through physical assessments and group activities, participants also had the valuable opportunity to learn about and experience measures to prevent fall-related accidents firsthand.
In October of the same year, these companies invited a lecturer from the Nagano University of Health and Medical Sciences to conduct a seminar on lower back pain prevention. Approximately 70 employees participated, including managers, members of the Safety and Health Committee, and employees aged 50 and older who volunteered to attend. The session covered topics ranging from being mindful of actions to avoid tripping, slipping, and losing one’s footing to methods for preventing future physical and mental decline, such as frailty.
Given the eight fall-related accidents across the Japan Radio Group companies as of FY2025, the company will continue to implement initiatives related to fall prevention moving forward.
Platinum Level Award at the National Occupational Safety and Health Excellence Awards
The "Fostering a Safety Culture in the Workplace" campaign is an initiative launched by the Thai Ministry of Labor to improve safety standards in workplaces across Thailand. The primary goals are to reduce the occupational injury rate to less than one per 1,000 workers and the fatality rate to less than three per 100,000 workers by 2030.
From January to March 2024, Nisshinbo Micro Devices (Thailand) displayed a banner featuring a design designated by the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare of the Thai Ministry of Labor at the front of its facility for three months, which highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of safety within the workplace to both internal and external audiences. In 2025, the company also participated in the National Occupational Safety and Health Excellence Awards, which is organized annually by the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare of the Thai Ministry of Labor, and received an award (Platinum Level) for the 22nd consecutive year.
In addition, at the awards ceremony for occupational safety held by the Lamphun Provincial Office of Labor and Social Welfare in November 2025, the company’s General Affairs manager received certificates of commendation for two awards from the deputy governor of Lamphun Province.
Award for Outstanding Safe Driving Management (Regional Award)
The Tatebayashi Plant of Nisshinbo Brake Inc. received the Outstanding Safe Driving Management Facility Award (Regional Award) from the Oizumi Traffic Safety Association, which is responsible for the relevant district under the Gunma Prefecture Traffic Safety Association, a public interest incorporated foundation.
This award is presented by the Gunma Prefectural Traffic Safety Association based on recommendations from regional traffic safety associations. The recommendations are made after local police station and the Safe Driving Management Association have routinely monitored and evaluated a business’s safe driving management system and efforts to prevent traffic accidents.
This award recognizes the efforts of each employee to adhere to traffic rules and perform assigned duties with a strong commitment to safety; it is also the result of the guidance and support provided by the Gunma Prefectural Police, our local police station, and the Oizumi Traffic Safety Association.
Inspired by this award, Nisshinbo Brake will continue to rigorously enforce safe driving practices and further strengthen its efforts to prevent traffic accidents, thereby contributing to the safety and trust of the local community.
Conference on Accident Prevention Resolutions
In September 2025, Saeron Automotive Corporation in South Korea convened a safety accident prevention resolution meeting with the goals of raising safety awareness among all executives and employees and achieving zero accidents.
A total of 293 executives and employees attended this resolution meeting. They took the time to reaffirm an organizational culture that prioritizes safety above all else by having employee representatives pledge to comply with safety rules. Along with the creation of safety rule compliance pledges by all executives and employees, the president and the union chairman representing management and labor, respectively, shared their strong commitment to preventing safety accidents through a joint declaration.
Taking this resolution meeting as an opportunity, Saeron Automotive will continue its efforts to establish a culture of safety and ensure that safety practices are naturally incorporated into daily work operations.
Hosting the "Global Safety Contest"
The Nisshinbo Mechatronics Group has been holding a 5S Contest as part of its company-wide safety initiatives through FY2023. Because the causes of accidents in recent years have increasingly shifted from equipment-related incidents to those resulting from human behavior, these companies renamed the initiative the "Global Safety Contest" starting in FY2024 to foster greater safety awareness among employees. The Nisshinbo Mechatronics Group is now working to promote this initiative by having each domestic and international location report on their 5S activities and safety awareness initiatives and by recognizing outstanding sites.
This has now become an annual tradition within the Nisshinbo Mechatronics Group with all locations collaborating to share ideas and actively engage in health and safety initiatives. In addition, the results of the Global Safety Contest, details of the initiatives, and comments from the winners are compiled in the Health and Safety Newsletter and distributed throughout the Nisshinbo Mechatronics Group to ensure widespread awareness.
Safety Education and Promotion of Certification
Nisshinbo-Continental Precision Machining (Yangzhou) Co., Ltd., is promoting safety training and strengthening their safety and health management system to protect the safety and health of their employees.
Safety training focuses on the following two areas:
- ①In machinery injury prevention training, maintenance and on-site workers use the hands-on equipment at the Safety Dojo to experience the risks of accidents caused by pinching, entanglement, and residual air pressure, thereby learning the causes of accidents and preventive measures. A total of 67 employees participated between April and December 2025.
- ②In lower back pain prevention training, the company provided instruction centered on stretching exercises for lower back protection and methods to reduce strain from prolonged work, reaching 234 participants.
To strengthen the safety and health management system, Nisshinbo-Continental Precision Machining is encouraging on-site managers (section chiefs and supervisors) to obtain relevant legal certifications. This initiative aims to improve safety instruction and health management standards while fostering a workplace environment where employees can work with greater peace of mind. By December 2025, 30 employees had obtained safety manager certifications and 33 had obtained health manager certifications.
Nisshinbo-Continental Precision Machining will continue its efforts to achieve zero workplace accidents by improving training content and increasing the number of certified personnel.
Received a Certificate of Commendation at the Tokushima Industrial Safety and Health Conference
The Tokushima Plant of Nisshinbo Chemical Inc., part of the Functional Chemicals Division, received the Safety and Health Encouragement Award (Safety Measures) from the Tokushima Labor Bureau in recognition of its long-standing efforts to promote safety and health initiatives.
This incentive award is presented to companies in Tokushima Prefecture that have maintained a record of zero accidents and are recognized for their excellent standards of safety and health.
The awards ceremony was held at Awagin Hall in July 2025, and the company attended the event. In FY2025, four companies in Tokushima Prefecture, including Nisshinbo Chemical received the award. This marks the first time that the company’s Tokushima Plant received this award since its establishment in April 2005.
Nisshinbo Chemical will continue to prioritize safety and health initiatives to ensure that everyone can work safely and with peace of mind.
Workplace Safety Promotion Activities Workplace Safety Promotion Activities
Nisshin Environmental Planning Inc. often collects samples in-house for environmental analysis.
The locations where they go to collect samples, primarily construction sites, are spread throughout the Kanto region, and even during seasons when heatstroke is a concern, such as summer, they often have to work for long hours under the blazing sun. While they make a point of taking breaks in the shade whenever possible, their work is carried out under harsh conditions. In addition to regular health checks, Nisshin Environmental Planning has long provided equipment to facilitate easy hydration and salt intake. However, in anticipation of the legal requirements taking effect in June 2025, the company introduced Peltier-element cooling garments, fan-assisted air-conditioned workwear, heatstroke prevention watches, and WBGT meters. Nisshin Environmental Planning has begun using these on-site to monitor their employees’ health.
In addition, since they transport large equipment, most of the travel to collect samples is done using company vehicles. They often use congested routes on major roads in Tokyo and the Metropolitan Expressway, raising concerns about traffic accidents. For this reason, the company has installed SmartDrive, which is a vehicle management system utilizing dashcams, in all vehicles to enable all managers to monitor each team member’s driving behavior. This system allows the company to track the location of each vehicle in real time. It also uses AI to detect dangerous driving behaviors, such as sudden acceleration, hard braking, and swerving, and alerts the driver while assigning a score. Since video footage is saved, the company also uses it as training material for traffic hazard prediction training (KYT). Furthermore, Nisshin Environmental Planning makes effective uses of such features as pre- and post-drive alcohol checks, driving history tracking, and vehicle management functions.
