The Nisshinbo Group's mission is to contribute to society through our business activities, and based on its corporate philosophy of Change and Challenge! For the creation of the future of Earth and People, the Group aims to Connect Everything, Create Value in response to medium- to long-term changes in the business environment and opportunities, such as the growing demand for climate change, changes in population demographics, and the development of a digital society, and will provide solutions to social issues using sensing, wireless communications, and information processing technologies.
The key measures are pursuing business portfolio transformation, building a business model for future growth and investing management resources in a focused manner and reducing management risk by further strengthening the management base.
In 2023, we have made a major portfolio reshuffle in the wireless and communications business and the brake business, and have clarified our commitment to further growth with the wireless and communications and microdevices businesses as our core businesses. We will continue to pursue improved profitability through business model transformation, shifting to a business model that leverages digital technology, centered on the wireless and communications business. In addition, we will accelerate our assessment of businesses by comprehensively evaluating their consistency with our corporate philosophy, growth potential, and profitability in terms of business and capital.
Our top priority for improving profitability is structural reform of the wireless and communications business. The wireless and communications business is divided into the public and private demand business, which consists mainly of public infrastructure and defense-related businesses, the public and private demand business, and the EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Service) business, which supports the public sector demand business. In particular, there is little overlap in the high-share fields of both Japan Radio Co., Ltd. and Kokusai Denki Electric Inc. in the public-sector business, which mainly comprises public infrastructure and defense-related business, so it is possible to demonstrate synergies between the two companies in a short period of time, and early improvements in profitability can be expected.
Global warming is having a major impact on people's lives as natural disasters become more severe, and we will meet the expectations of our various stakeholders, including customers, shareholders, employees, business partners, and local communities, by contributing to social issues for the safety and security of people through these activities centered on wireless and communications technologies.
With regard to sustainability management, we will strive to achieve our environmental goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 (compared to 2014) and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, while at the same time aiming for business transformation and growth through diversity as a source of innovation and DX as an accelerator of innovation. In order to enhance our corporate values, we will not only comply with the law but also act based on ethics as a human being, persistently promote human rights due diligence and D&I activities, and use the diversity of our business, diversity of people, and diversity of values as our strength.
We look forward to your continued support of the Nisshinbo Group, which will continue to grow by seizing opportunities for change.
